Cinci road cut

I found a fossil in road cut inside the I-275 bypass in Cincinnati OH (Ordovician period). Looks like chili pepper. Any ideas? if so please email me at jerry.debbie3@charter.net

Jerry,

While your specimen has a clear outline it doesn't have much in the way of defining characteristics. The general shape is consistent with a straight shelled nautiloid, commonly called orthoceras. You can learn more about them here:
